A spiritual connection doesn’t have to be religious to be powerful.
In this deeply personal reflection, Kareena shares her evolving relationship with the Divine, the daily practice that grounds her, and why nurturing spiritual connection is essential for midlife women seeking purpose, presence, and peace.
Finding Calm and Clarity: Embracing Daily Spiritual Practices for Midlife Women
Navigating Spiritual Connection
Talking about spirituality can feel difficult for me. Why? Because each person’s relationship with it is deeply personal ~ shaped by beliefs, experiences, and often, pain. For many of us, it’s a tender and complicated space, one that I hold with care and respect.
My Journey with Spirituality
Spiritual connection has always been a part of me, yet my relationship with the concept of “God” has felt complex. Although I wasn’t raised in a religious home, I internalised an image of a punishing, distant God ~ one that left me feeling abandoned and unsure of how to nurture my spirituality.
Over time, deep reflection and inner work helped me soften this belief. Now, I feel more at peace linking the beauty and presence I experience with the term “God.”
Even so, I still gravitate toward words like
“Divine”
“Source”
“Spirit”
~ names that feel more loving, generous, and true to my experience of spiritual connection.
My Daily Practice
For me, spiritual connection is a daily ritual, one that begins each morning when I sit quietly and close my eyes.
Slow, steady breaths guide me inward, allowing my awareness to drift upward. In that stillness, a familiar light emerges ~ radiant, warm, and deeply comforting.
Grounding Breath Meditation
One powerful technique I use to cultivate calm and clarity is a simple grounding breath meditation.
I begin by taking a deep inhale through my nose for a slow count of four, holding the breath gently for four counts, then exhaling fully through my mouth for a count of six.
While breathing, I visualise roots extending from the base of my spine deep into the earth, anchoring me securely in the present moment.
This practice helps to quiet my busy mind, release anxiety, and invite a peaceful clarity that carries me through the day.
Whether in moments of overwhelm or as a daily habit, this meditation reconnects me to my inner stillness and spiritual centre ~ a space of love and light I can return to anytime.
How do I know I’ve found it?
It’s hard to describe, yet unmistakable. A flutter washes over me ~ a sensation that feels like bliss. It’s the purest experience of love, gentle and soft, like a delicate light flickering across my skin or a gentle current of energy wrapping around me.
This feeling grounds me. A smile forms, my heart expands, and a deep sense of safety settles within me ~ as though I’m being cradled in the arms of something infinitely loving.
Receiving Guidance
From this place of connection, clear communication flows to me ~ a quiet inner voice speaking with love and wisdom. Whether I ask questions, express my worries, or simply sit in presence, guidance always finds its way to me.
My intention is to connect with the highest guidance ~ the golden light of love and Spirit. When my heart opens to this connection, the messages I receive feel pure, empowering, and deeply affirming.
When I Forget to Connect…
Despite how much this connection nourishes me, I sometimes drift away from it. Life gets busy, and prioritising this sacred part of me isn’t always easy.
Yet, when I neglect it, restlessness creeps in. I feel untethered, as though something essential is missing.
Reconnecting feels like returning home ~ grounding me, re-centering my heart, and reminding me of truths I easily forget when swept up in daily life.
Why This Connection Matters
Nurturing my spiritual connection reminds me: I am more than my daily obligations, challenges, and desires.
A power greater than me exists ~ a wellspring of love and wisdom that’s always within reach.
My purpose is to honour the sacred, not just external pressures or material expectations.
I am safe, supported, and never alone. I am love, and I am loved.
How Do You Connect?
Our spiritual journeys are as unique as we are, and I’d love to hear about yours. How do you connect with something greater than yourself? What practices bring you back to that quiet, loving space within?
Please feel welcome to share ~ I’d be honoured to hear your story.
